Children's Story Telling Festival

A brief history of the event

Balingup has demonstrated a strong tradition and commitment to the development of creative and innovative events and festivals for adults and families.

The inaugural 'Telling Tales in Balingup' was held in July 2010. Following its huge success, it was decided to stage the Festival annually.

Telling Tales in Balingup is always scheduled to take place over the middle weekend of the July school holidays.

Balingup is fortunate to have some very creative people within our community. Local authors, story tellers and illustrators have enthusiastically supported the event in past years, offering to participate in the development of this unique children's literacy program.

The event is organised by a small committee of dedicated local volunteers working through the Balingup Progress Association. We welcome new members!

About the event

The program consists of four one hour sessions/workshops per day, each session running for approximately one hour. Ten sessions will be run concurrently in each of the four time slots, allowing children and families to attend a session which is both age appropriate and appealing.

Balingup locals love the opportunity to dress-up, get into character and join in the fun. The local community will once again be encouraged prior to this year's event to participate fully in this way. Dressing up and having fun is of course not only for the children and the locals; accompanying adults can naturally join in the fun too!
